McLeod Marlboro Strome evidence OHL draft

Sudbury Wolves took a little suspense in the OHL Priority Selection 2015 on Friday when they announced that they are Israeli-born David Levin (GTHL) Don Mills Flyers of the Greater Toronto Hockey League front row.

But what about the rest of the first round?

Gabe Vilardi, a center of the Canadian International Hockey Academy (CIH Academy) of the East Minor Hockey League Ontario, went second to the Windsor Spitfires. Ryan McLeod, also a center, from 2015 champion of the OHL Cup Toronto Marlboros was taken third by the Firebirds Flint (formerly the Plymouth Whalers).

Vilardi and McLeod were named players of the year this season in their respective leagues with Vilardi scoring 39 points in 21 games and McLeod set up 81 points in 74 games.

McLeod's teammate Matthew Strome, went eighth to another team recently re-located in the Hamilton Bulldogs (formerly the Belleville Bulls). He recorded 60 points in 64 games played this season with Marlboro.

Strome is characterized by a number of reasons. He scored the extra-hours winner to clinch OHL Cup.

And the last name should be familiar to fans of the NHL. He is the younger brother of New York Islanders center Ryan Strome and 2015 NHL Entry Draft eligible downtown Erie Otters Dylan Strome, who both congratulated on achieving little brother.
